Joeb Moore presented a lecture titled, “Contextual Sustainability: The New Paradigm”, at The American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) Annual Custom Residential Architects Network (CRAN) Symposium in Newport, Rhode Island on Sept 6th, 2012. Among the many educational and social highlights of the 5-day event was an afternoon of sight-seeing in Newport’s Famed Bellevue Avenue Mansion District where the lavish homes of Robber Barons and Socialites of the Gilded Age are meticulously preserved and open for public view. Among the mansions visited, a favorite was the Isaac Bell House, one of the first Newport homes designed by the esteemed triumvirate of McKim, Mead & White.
